INDIANAPOLIS - Police have identified the victim who was shot and killed on the city's northeast side Monday afternoon.
Authorities identified the victim as 19-year-old Nathan Williams.
The shooting happened at The Villages at Mill Crossing apartment complex near 38th Street and Sherman Drive just after 4 p.m., officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
Officers said Williams was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his leg.
He was rushed to Eskenazi Health in critical condition. IMPD confirmed Williams later died of his injuries at the hospital.
Residents reported hearing a number of gunshots at the time of the incident, authorities said. Police were searching the area for potential witnesses.
