Man arrested in connection with near-west side Indianapolis slaying

INDIANAPOLIS - A man was arrested Monday in connection with a death investigation Sunday night on the city's near-west side, police said.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of North Exeter Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot.
They found a man suffering from "fatal trauma," police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Joseph Bajt, 50.
Police named Herbert Barber, 47, a suspect in connection with the shooting.
Barber was taken into custody at the Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of voluntary manslaughter, and held without bail.
