CARMEL, Ind. -- Carmel firefighters pulled an 8-year-old boy out of a retention pond near West Carmel Drive Wednesday evening.
Emergency responders were called to the pond, which is behind the Meijer store on the 1400 block of West Carmel Drive, around 6:30 p.m. on a report of a person in the water.

Firefighters arrived and pulled an unresponsive 8-year-old boy out of the water.
The boy was taken to St. Vincent Hospital, where he was reportedly in critical condition.
