BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- On the same morning that a woman robbed a store near Indiana University's campus, the school sent an alert for students and staff to take shelter, due to a person seen with a gun.

The Bloomington Police Department are searching for a woman who robbed the Village Pantry on N. Indiana Street around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

She was wearing all black at the time of the robbery.

Police say the clerk had minor injuries from the robbery when they were hit with the gun. Cash was taken from the store, but police aren't saying how much.

The station has been robbed before.

After IU's initial alert, the university released an update, saying the investigation is on-going, but the threat is no longer imminent.

"The alert came out very quickly," Lt. Craig Monroe of IU police said. "I was quite impressed. The shift commanders decided this was important. We don't know where the armed suspect was heading. It appeared they may have been heading toward campus."

IU tweeted that a person with a handgun was seen near 12th Street and Indiana Avenue.

"IU does a really good job of sending emails out when there's a threat," Kyle Sanders said. "I got mine at 6 o'clock this morning. That woke me up."
