BREMEN, Ind. -- You know what a pain it can be if it's happened to you.
Being stranded along the road somewhere because of car trouble is inconvenient and it can also be dangerous.
Indiana State Troopers stop to help nearly 200,000 motorists along Indiana roadways over the course of a year.
This act of kindness can come with a cost. Troopers have been struck and killed, and shot and killed, while trying to help stranded drivers.
That could be why a recent Facebook post struck a nerve.
It appeared on a page called 'Anonymous Indiana'. The picture was of an unmarked crime scene van.
The trooper had stopped to help a motorist.
There are many compliments, but many of the comments are critical of the trooper and of police in general.

State Police say they're not sure why the comments were so negative. The response especially shocked Sgt. Trent Smith who was the driver of the van.
"With current public opinion of law enforcement at a low it is frustrating to find inaccurate reports and volatile comments on social media but it seems all too common," said Sgt. Smith.
Sgt. Smith went on to say that its easier to criticize, critique and jump to conclusions while hiding behind a keyboard.
State Police say the good news is that all of the criticism has not undermined the sergeant's resolve to serve and protect.
