JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. - The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 were shut down early Tuesday as police investigated a fatal crash near the 96 mile marker in Whiteland.

Johnson County dispatchers said about 4:45 a.m., a man was ejected from a commercial vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told police the vehicle was swerving in the road minutes before the crash.

The victim's name was not released, but state police said he had just returned to work after a medical procedure.

Traffic was backed up bumper-to-bumper as crews worked to clear the scene.
