Police identify 4 found dead in SE-side home Thursday

Sources: Incident was not random

INDIANAPOLIS - Police were investigating after four people were found dead in a house on the city’s southeast side Thursday evening.

Those four were identified at roughly 8 a.m. Friday as: Hayley Navarra, 21; Kristy Mae Sanchez, 22; Jacob Rodemich, 43; and Walter Burnell, 47; they were all from Indianapolis.

Sources told Rafael Sanchez the people were found shot to death in a home in the 3400 block of South Parker Avenue, near Interstate 65 and Keystone Avenue, around 8 p.m. officials said.

Sources confirmed Thursday two males and two females were found inside the home. Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said all of the people found dead were adults.

Sources also confirmed to RTV6 the incident did not appear to be random and the victims were targeted.

Police said they believe that drugs played a central role in the killings.

"There are some similarities in what we're saying about these individuals. We're not going to demonize their lives. They've had some brushes with the law," IMPD Chief Rick Hite said.

Police said they have identified at least one or more persons of interest.

Because of the complexities of the case, police said they can't release too many details of the investigation.
