RICHMOND, Ind. - Richmond Police were working Friday to track down two men responsible for a drive-by shooting that injured four people.
All four victims – 33-year-old Frank Deloney, 26-year-old Maurice Boatman, 23-year-old Terry Johnson and 34-year-old Treston Bennett – were taken to Reid Hospital. One had to undergo surgery for his injuries.
The brother of Treston Bennett described the shooting.
"A black car pulled up and, they say, shot about twelve times at them," said Charles Boyce. "It's not like when we were kids; we fought with our hands. Now it's about guns. Something needs to be done. I don't think it's cool."
Police said they recovered 15 shell casings they believe were fired from a semi-automatic handgun at the scene near the intersection of North 15th and H Streets.
Neither Bennett nor police said they have an idea who the suspects might be. But, police said, they are motivated to solve the case.
"This is highly unusual, and certainly not acceptable in terms of keeping people safe," said Richmond Police Chief Kris Wolski. "We want to bring this to a conclusion so people can rest assured that Richmond is a safe community."
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Richmond Police Department at (765) 983-7247 or (765) 983-7356.
