FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Fort Wayne police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the beating death of a 78-year-old woman whose body was found in her mobile home.
Police say Zachary Reinders of Fort Wayne was arrested Tuesday on preliminary charges of murder and robbery in Diane Woods' death.
Police say Woods' son found her body Aug. 8 in her home at the Valley Hills Mobile Home Park on the city's northwest side after she failed to answer phone calls from relatives. An autopsy found Woods died on head injuries.
Officials didn't say what led investigators to arrest Reinders. He was jailed without bond and it wasn't immediately clear whether he had a defense attorney.
