INDIANAPOLIS - Several homes were evacuated Thursday evening after a police chase ended when the suspect’s car hit a gas meter.
The gas line broke next to a house near East 23rd and Bellefontaine streets just after 9 p.m.
During a short police chase, the suspect car went out of control and hit the gas meter next to a house, breaking the gas line. Some gas was coming from the broken line, officials said.
The evacuation was lifted around 10:30 p.m. and residents were allowed back into their homes.
