Police chase ends when suspects crash into IHOP Restaurant

Suspects accused of shoplifting perfume

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Two shoplifting suspects were arrested after they crashed into an IHOP Restaurant on the city’s south side Friday evening.

The suspects' car crashed into the restaurant near U.S. 31 and South Shelby Street during a police chase around 7 p.m., officials with the Greenwood Police Department said.

Police said the suspects are accused of stealing two bottles of perfume from Von Maur at the Greenwood Park Mall.

Police said Danissa Moss, 41, was driving and James Townsend, 57, was the passenger.

Police chased the suspects north on U.S. 31 for a couple of miles until their vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the IHOP.

Police said speeds reached 100 mph during the chase.

No serious injuries were reported, but the manager of the IHOP said some of his customers were "shaken up." Police said the suspects' vehicle damaged another vehicle in the IHOP parking lot.

The IHOP was closed for the rest of the night.
