Police discover mobile meth lab during routine traffic stop

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Troopers conducted a routine traffic stop for an expired license plate and discovered an active methamphetamine lab inside the car, police said.

Troopers stopped the 1999 Kia at Shenandoah Drive near State Road 26 and made contact with the driver and the two passengers at 9:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Police said a strong chemical smell came from inside the vehicle and the troopers discovered a mobile meth lab inside the vehicle.

All three of the occupants were taken into custody and booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail, police said.

Casey Lee, 35, was charged in connection with manufacturing meth and possession of meth.

Valorie Smith, 38, was charged in connection with manufacturing meth, possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.

Heather Wales, 33, was charged in connection with manufacturing meth, possession of meth and maintaining and common nuisance.
