Police find Lafayette art teacher found dead on front porch

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An art teacher at an elementary school in Lafayette was found dead at her home Wednesday evening.

Lafayette police responded to a report of shots fired near the 1300 block of Ridgeway Avenue around 8:25 p.m. 

Officers investigated and found the body of a woman on the property. The coroner identified the victim as Kristi Redmon.

The superintendent of the Lafayette School Corporation confirmed that Redmon was a teacher at Elgelea Elementary and Miami Elementary.

Superintendent Les Huddle said students, parents and teachers were informed of Redmon’s death Thursday morning.

The case remains under investigation.
