CONNERSVILLE, Ind. -- Members of  Phillipi Early Church of God in Christ in Connersville found their building vandalized Friday.

The church, at 2112 Ohio Avenue, was spray painted with a racial slur, a Nazi swastika and offensive language. A Connersville police officer helped remove the offensive message after being called to the scene.

Local gun shop owner Jim Wulff and his family have offered to install a free surveillance system for the small church.

"We must unite and show love back to this peaceful and loving church, " said Wulff.

Wulff and members of the community are also putting together a reward and a Gofundme page to help the church restore its water and electricity.

The church, founded in 1983 by Elder Charles Thurman, currently meets in Cincinatti because it doesn't have resources to pay utilities.

This remains a developing story and we will update as we get more information.

If you have any information on this situation, please call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262- TIPS.
