Man chases stolen car, holds driver at gunpoint

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who saw his uncle's stolen car chased down the car with his own vehicle, crashed into the car and then held the driver at gunpoint until police arrived Friday afternoon. 

The incident happened on northbound I-465 at 46th Street around 2:30 p.m. 

According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, around 2:00 p.m. a man named Pablo Rodriguez, 28, of Indianapolis saw his uncle's car, which had been reported stolen on Feb. 3 near 38th Street and Moeller Road. Rodriguez followed the car onto I-465 to the 18.5 mile marker and intentionally crashed into the car and then held the man at gunpoint. 

The driver of the stolen car has been identified as Andre Edwards, 21, of Indianapolis. Edwards has an outstanding warrant for armed and dangerous robbery and a second outstanding warrant from Georgia for aggravated assault, according to the press release. 

Police say it is unclear if any shots were fired during the incident. 

Both Rodriguez and Edwards were taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be looked at.
