KEWANNA, Ind. - Police say a homeowner shot and badly wounded a man who had broken into his house in a small northern Indiana town.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Department says the wounded 41-year-old man's estranged wife was inside the house in the town of Kewanna when the shooting happened early Monday.
The wounded man was flown to a South Bend hospital in critical condition, the South Bend Tribune and WNDU-TV reported.
Police say the resident told officers the man had a gun when he broke in soon after midnight in the town about 40 miles south of South Bend. The homeowner told police he shot the intruder and then called 911.
