ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Police were investigating a death at a Zionsville day care on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials with Zionsville Fire Department responded to a call at Dawn 'til Dusk Daycare in the 11700 block of North Michigan Road just before 11 a.m.
A 3-month-old girl, later identified as Charlotte Henthorne, was found unresponsive in her crib, officials said.
Staff members tried to revive Henthorne and she was taken to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
Henthorne's parents were notified.
Indiana State Police were called in to investigate because Henthorne's father works for the Zionsville Police Department.
Police said even though there is no evidence of foul play, they were treating the investigation as a homicide.
"The investigation is ongoing. When we have completed the investigation, it will move forward, as a matter of customary action, to the Boone County Prosecutor's Office. I want to clarify that any death investigation starts as if treating it as a homicide, and then we can always scale down our investigation," Indiana State Police Capt. David Bursten said.
Police will wait for the coroner's report to determine an official cause of death.
