HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - Officials were investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Hamilton County on Friday evening.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene of the crash at Strawtown Avenue and Prairie Baptist Road, northeast of Noblesville, just before 6 p.m.
Police said the incident did not involve any other vehicles and the driver was found by a passing motorist.
When authorities arrived, they found the motorcycle with the driver nearby in a bean field.
The driver was later identified as Darin Ibey, 50, of Anderson, Ind. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said their initial investigation revealed that Ibey was traveling eastbound on Strawtown Avenue, when for an unknown reason, his motorcycle left the roadway.
It was unclear when Ibey crashed or how long he had been there, police said.
Ibey was not wearing a helmet, but police said there did not appear to be any indications of speeding or alcohol.
Stawtown Avenue was closed during the investigation, but reopened just before 8 p.m.
Police said more information will be released following an autopsy and toxicology reports.
