INDIANAPOLIS - Police said a fatal shooting on the city's east side Wednesday afternoon was not believed to be a random act.
The shooting happened on East 20th Street and Lesley Avenue just before 4:30 p.m., officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
Police said the victim was shot in his yard. The suspect drove away but got stuck on the side of the road and fled on foot, authorities said.
Police said the shooting was believed to be the result of an earlier altercation between the victim and the suspect, who were acquaintances.
Detectives have identified a person of interest, but did not release the identity of the victim or suspect. No arrest has been made.
