INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have arrested 19-year-old Robert Norris and charged him with battery in connection with the abduction of his daughter, police said.
IMPD was looking for a child and her non-custodial father after the child's mother reported the 5-month-old was taken by the non-custodial father after an argument near the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library.
Witnesses told police the father made statements that alluded to possible child endangerment, police said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the library where they prepared for an area grid search.
Circle Center Mall and other area businesses were contacted for assistance.
Both Norris and the child were found safe in the 800 block of Capitol Avenue and were put in police custody, IMPD said.
The infant was checked out by Wishard medical staff.
