HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. - Police were investigating a possible drowning in rural Hancock County Friday evening.
Officials with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department were called to the 8800 block of County Road 1100 North just before 7:30 p.m.
Officials said 77-year-old Billy Badgley fell into a shallow ditch he had been digging in a barn and became wedged.
There was a small amount of water in the ditch, but officials did not know if he drowned or suffered a medical event before falling into the ditch.
An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
