Police investigate possible homicide in Gas City

Woman reported burglary hours before found dead

GAS CITY, Ind. - State police are investigating a possible homicide in Gas City.

Officers responded to a call reporting a possible death in the 100 block of East North A Street before 11 a.m.

Officers found the body of Ashley Rheam, 28, inside the home, and early indications revealed that Rheam was murdered, police said.

Detectives initiated a homicide investigation which revealed that Rheam reported that her home had been burglarized to the Gas City Police Department at 5:39 a.m. Saturday, police said.

She reported some electronic items were missing and the rear door of her home had been kicked in.

Officers took a report and cleared the house, but did not locate any suspects.

Rheam’s roommate arrived home at approximately 10:40 a.m. and found her body, officials said.

Police believe Rheam’s white 1993 Cadillac Eldorado was stolen from the house.

Indiana State Police said the vehicle had been located.
