Police upgrade Aspen Village shooting to homicide, second victim in serious condition

A second victim was hospitalized for near-drowning

INDIANAPOLIS - A man has died and another been taken to Wishard Hospital in serious condition following a shooting at Aspen Village Apartments, police confirmed.

At 1:46 p.m. Tuesday, IMPD officers responded to a report of a person shot on the 3500 block of Kebil Drive. Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was transported to Wishard Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

A second victim ran from the shooting incident and jumped into a nearby retention pond. Nearby residents reportedly saw him struggling and jumped in to save him. He was also taken to Wishard Hospital in serious condition with suspected water in his lungs.

Police said the second victim was not shot.
