INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis detectives are investigating a case on the city’s northwest side after a man's body was pulled from a pond.

Police responded to a call around noon in the 7700 block of Santa Monica Drive, near 79th and Georgetown Road after a body was found floating in the pond at Westbury Court apartments.

IMPD officers said the man, identified as 38-year-old Andre Cooper, was staying with his sister who lived in the apartment complex.

When Cooper went missing, his sister didn't find it out of the ordinary for him to leave a couple of days at a time, but when he missed work, she became concerned.

Soon after the missing persons report was released, someone called police about a floating body.

Investigators found cigarettes and a bottle of liquor between the pond and the woman's apartment, which had direct access to the water.

They believe the man maybe slipped into the pond and drowned, but the situation is being treated as a death investigation.
