Police: Klug prime suspect in murder of roommate

Police: Obih found dead with knife wounds

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Columbus police have named Ryan Allen Klug as the prime suspect in the murder of his roommate, Adaobi M. Obih, and have issued a warrant for his arrest.

Multiple law enforcement agencies continue to search for 36-year-old Klug after Obih, 26, was found dead in her apartment Tuesday afternoon.

Employees of the River Stone Apartments found Obih unresponsive on the third floor of the apartment building in the 3400 block of Limestone Lane.

The employees were alerted after Obih missed two days of work. Police said Obih’s boyfriend also reported her as missing.

Officials said there was no sign of forced entry in the apartment, but when an apartment employee entered the space, police said Obih was lying dead on the ground.

Detectives said Obih had what appeared to be multiple knife wounds, including having her throat cut, police documents said. Officials said a knife was found in the apartment.

Police said they found evidence of blood throughout the apartment and leading to the garage that Klug used.

A neighbor told police the garage door had been open for at least 24 hours.

Police documents said Klug sent a text message to his boss Sunday evening, saying he was going to be sick on Monday and then take a two-week vacation.

Authorities say Klug may be driving a 2008 grey or silver Subaru Legacy with Indiana plate number 357BPC.

"We put this information out to inform people. We don't want there to be just a total panic you know, but we do want people to stay alert," Columbus Police Department Lt. Matt Myers said.

Contact the Columbus Police Department with any information on Klug at 812-376-2600.
