SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. -
A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday after his truck overturned into a Sullivan County pond.
Just before 1:30 a.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an overturned pickup truck in a pond near County Roads 75 North and 150 East.
When state troopers arrived at the scene, they found a red 1933 Ford pickup truck overturned on its passenger side in a private pond.
The driver, Richard Enstrom Jr., 43, of Shelburn, was found trapped inside the truck and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives said the truck had been headed east on CR 75 North before hitting a traffic sign and skidding down an embankment and into the pond. No seatbelts were found inside the truck, investigators said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
