A man was shot to death late Tuesday on the city's northeast side, Indianapolis Metro Police officers said.
Just before 10 p.m., IMPD officers were called to the 3400 block of North Chester Avenue on reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, police found a man who had apparently been shot lying in the front yard of a home. He was rushed to Wishard Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Detectives identified the victim as Brian Jefferson, 46. Investigators said they detained several people who may have witnessed the shooting to IMPD headquarters for questioning, but have yet to figure out a motive behind the slaying.
