Man accused of inappropriately touching 2 kids at Wal-Mart

Brock, 43, arrested Sunday afternoon

COLUMBUS, Ind. - A man was arrested after police said he inappropriately touched two children at a Wal-Mart on the east side of Columbus over the weekend.

Officers with the Columbus Police Department said they received two separate calls about the man around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Jeffrey Brock, 43, faces charges of child molestation, sexual battery and battery, police said.

The mother of a 7-year-old girl told police that Brock approached and tried to grab her child in the shoe department. The mother confronted Brock and he took off.

The other call came in after Brock allegedly grabbed an 8-year-old girl near the exit, moments after the first incident. The child’s mother, father and other customers held Brock down until police arrived and made the arrest.

Police said they have surveillance video that shows Brock touching the kids while their parents are just feet away. Wal-Mart officials said the video will not be released to the public.

"It is shocking to see that many people coming and going and see this guy do this inappropriate behavior right there with parents and everyone so close," CPD Lt. Matt Myers said.

Officials with the Wal-Mart corporate office released a statement saying they were fully cooperating with the police investigation and would hand over all surveillance video related to the case.

Brock is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail while the prosecutor decides on formal charges.
