BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A man who was being sought in the killing of a woman in southeastern Wisconsin took his own life when confronted by officers, Bloomington police said Wednesday.
Authorities said Eddie Callaway, 26, was confronted about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after an Indiana State Police detective recognized him as wanted by federal marshals.
Law enforcement agencies in Indiana were looking for Callaway because he had family in the area.
A Bloomington officer held Callaway at gunpoint until backup arrived.
Police said once other officers arrived, Callaway retrieved a weapon from his waistband and shot himself in the head.
Police in Waukesha, Wis., believe Callaway fatally shot Shanel Negron, 24, last week. A charged of first-degree intentional homicide had been filed against Callaway.
