INDIANAPOLIS - A man was arrested on charges on operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he crashed an SUV into a home which resulted in the injury of a 16-year-old girl, police said.

Devon Sylvester, 21, was taken into custody Monday after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a home in the 5500 block of North Drexel Avenue on the city's northeast side, near Binford Boulevard and 56 th Street.

Police said the girl was on the couch when the vehicle crashed in the home. She was taken to IU Methodist Hospital with a leg fracture and cuts on her face.

The girl's teenage brother and parents were also home at the time of the crash, but they were not hurt, police said.

Because of the seriousness of the girl's injuries, the Marion County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was called to investigate the crash.

Sylvester was sent to Wishard Hospital for a blood draw and later taken to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.

He faced several charges including operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
