INDIANAPOLIS - Concerns are being raised about security in a work release facility after police said one man died after an argument with another offender.
Officials said the incident occurred March 19 on the city's east side at the Duvall Residential Center in the 1800 block of Ludlow Avenue.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Joseph Motley, 38, struck Alan Cain, 40, in the face which caused Cain to fall backwards on to the concrete floor.
Cain was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for treatment, but authorities were notified that he died April 4, IMPD said.
An autopsy listed the cause of death as complications from blunt force trauma and the manner of death was determined to be homicide, officials said.
Motley was taken to the Marion County Jail processing center.
Police said Motley was charged in connection with aggravated battery and murder.
Motley will make an initial court appearance April 12.
