Police: Pedestrian hit, killed in crash on Indianapolis' south side

INDIANAPOLIS - A pedestrian was fatally hit by a Jeep early Friday on the city's south side, police said.

The crash happened about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Emerson Avenue and County Line Road when police said a person was struck by a Jeep. The Jeep backed over the victim, causing serious injuries.

Police said the victim died en route to the hospital.

The victim's name was not immediately released.

Detectives did not say if the driver of the Jeep would face any charges.
