INDIANAPOLIS - A 15-year-old is in critical condition after being shot by a pizza delivery person, later identified as Michael Andrews, police said.
Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of Richelieu Road, near Franklin Road and East 38th Street, around 7:15 p.m. Friday.
Metro police said the shooting happened during an apparent attempted robbery.
Andrews was approached by two males, one who took the pizza from him and one who pointed a gun at him, police said.
The teen who pointed a gun, identified as Jacob Robinson, demanded money and his cell phone.
The second suspect took two pizza boxes from the vehicle.
Andrews gave Robinson an undisclosed amount of money and told Robinson his phone was in the back of his car.
Instead of grabbing his phone, he grabbed his own firearm and fired several rounds at Robinson, hitting him at least twice, a media release said.
The other suspect dropped the pizza and ran north, police said.
Robinson, the injured teen, was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Police have not released any information on the second suspect.
