INDIANAPOLIS - Police are investigating after a man was badly burned in a fire at his home on Indianapolis' southwest side Thursday.
The fire was reported just before 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Briar Meadow Court near Southport and Bluff roads.
A neighbor called 911 after he said he heard a noise and looked out to see a man across the street, dressed only in shorts, rolling on the ground and yelling.
The man was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital with burns. His condition was not immediately released.
Firefighters described the incident as a small kitchen fire, but Indianapolis and state police were also called in to investigate its origin and crews were seen outside the home dressed in full chemical protection gear.
State police later told RTV6 that methamphetamine production was not suspected in the fire, and that the agency is no longer investigating.
Damage to the home is estimated at $10,000.
