CARMEL, Ind. - Carmel police have confirmed that a missing teen has been found safe in South Carolina.
Family reported Carly VanArsdall, 16, missing after she apparently left her home in the 1400 block of Second Way with some personal items at 9 a.m. Saturday.
There was concern for Carly’s well-being due to her medical conditions.
The Carmel Police Department (CPD) said at roughly 11:45 p.m. Saturday, the Pickens County Sheriff's Office contacted CPD to let them know they'd found VanArsdall at the residence of a 23-year-old white male in Pickens, S.C.
Police said the 23-year-old man has had an online relationship with VanArsdall since February. Officers said he drove to Carmel and picked her up.
VanArsdall is in protective custody with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office until she is released to her parents, police said.
CPD said the investigation into this case is ongoing and police will be working with the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office to determine if any criminal charges will be filed against the 23 year old.
