WHITELAND, Ind. - Police are searching for a missing 58-year-old Whiteland man with a mental handicap who has not been seen since Sunday.
Lloyd Smith was reported missing Tuesday by his brother who is also his caregiver, officers with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department said.
Smith has the mental capability of a 5 to 10-year-old, his brother told police.
His brother said that Smith left on his bike Sunday morning and has not been back since.
He told police that Smith has been known to panhandle at the exit ramps on Interstate 65 and sometimes goes to the Marathon station in Whiteland or the Love’s, Pilot or Flying J truck stops nearby.
Police said Smith’s brother thinks he may have gotten into a truck or vehicle with someone at the truck stops because he is very friendly.
His brother said he checked all of Smith’s usual places all the way up to Shelbyville.
