INDIANAPOLIS - The man accused of abducting his 9-month-old child was taken into custody by police Sunday.
Early Saturday morning, police said Kristian Averitte was taken about 5:30 a.m. from the 3500 block of Star Magnolia Place near 38th Street and North Sherman Drive.
The baby was said to be with his father, 22-year-old DeAndre Averitte, who does not have legal custody of the child.
Averitte was taken into custody near Caribbean Cove Water Park on the city's north side Sunday morning and faced preliminary charges of Domestic Battery, Residential Entry and Auto Theft, police said.
The baby was found safe around 12:22 p.m. Saturday.
