Police seize items for distilling liquor from Batesville home

BATESVILLE, Ind. - Police seized a still and other items used to distill liquor from a Batesville home Monday.
Officers with the Indiana State Excise Police served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Hillenbrand Avenue to look for items in connection with illegally making liquor.
“Several items associated with making distilled spirits were seized from the residence, including a whiskey barrel that appears to contain homemade whiskey. Other items seized included self-learning manuals and books on how to make whiskey,” police said.
Police said that possession of a still or distilling apparatus is a class C misdemeanor. Other charges, including a felony and misdemeanors, are possible.
