The death of an elderly farmer in Sullivan County is being investigated as a homicide, Indiana State Police said.

Sullivan County Sheriff's officers was called to the 10000 block of West County Road 350 North in Merom after a man discovered his father's body on the floor inside a bedroom in the home Saturday.

Indiana State Police identified the victim as 85-year-old Lowell Badger, and he appeared to have suffered signs of trauma, detectives said.

Investigators said the victim's son was making a routine visit when he found his father's body.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday at the Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

ISP asked anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area of the investigation to call the Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114.
