INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police were investigating a fatal shooting on the near east side Thursday evening.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found an unidentified victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head on the 2200 block of East 10th Street just after 5 p.m.

The victim, identified as William Dulin, 50, of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police that they saw at least one suspect run southbound after hearing the gunshots, police said.

The shooting is Indy's third homicide in less than 24 hours, and also the third in just two days since the New Year started.

The second was reported just before 2 a.m. on the west side Thursday. In that incident, police said 31-year-old Kristopher Griner was stabbed in the neck in a hotel parking lot. Griner later died of his wounds at Eskenazi Hospital.
