KNOX, Ind. - Indiana State Police say a woman ate some heroin and stuffed another ounce down her underwear before an officer pulled her over.
Kelly Koranda was being held on drug and intoxicated driving charges in Starke County Jail Wednesday. It isn't clear whether she has an attorney.
Police tell WANE-TV the 36-year-old Logansport woman was taken to a hospital for a drug screen after the traffic stop on US 35 in Starke County last week, and a nurse there saw that she was hiding drugs in her underwear.
Police counted 172 baggies of heroin, totaling about an ounce.
Koranda allegedly told police that she ate 10 packets of heroin before she was pulled over. She was hospitalized due to ingesting drugs, and was arrested following her release Sunday.
