INDIANAPOLIS – Project Indy, a youth summer jobs program hopes to employ more than 2,000 people using its new web and mobile portals.
The second phase of Project Indy will include an online portal and mobile application to help connect program participants to prospective employers who have joined the program.
This new phase will allow participants ages 16-24 to search and apply for open jobs based on their location.
“From day camp counselors to lifeguards, we are ready to not only help teens apply for summer jobs, but also to offer them good-paying, dependable jobs,” said Linda Broadfoot, Director of Indy Parks. “Our lifeguards start at $10 per hour with other positions paying up to $15 per hour. We know teens need work, and Indy Parks is here to help them find it.”

Project Indy was launched by EmployIndy and Mayor Joe Hogsett in May 2016 and quickly expanded after receiving a $2 million grant from the US Department of Labor and their Career Pathways for Youth: Summer Jobs and Beyond program.
“In order to reach as many teens as possible, we must break down barriers to employment and create additional opportunities with private sector partners. Project Indy provides a unifying program that will help connect kids to the critical first job on their career pathway,” said Hogsett. “I’m thrilled by the work and innovation of EmployIndy, GIPC and countless other community partners who have made this announcement possible. We look forward to partnering with new employers that are ready to open their doors to youth.”
