EVANSTON, Ill. - Purdue and Northwestern have observed a moment of silence before their basketball game hours after a shooting on the Boilermakers' campus.
An engineering student opened fire inside a basement classroom at Purdue, killing a teaching assistant earlier Tuesday.
Northwestern Sports posted the above image of fans supported Purdue with the following tweet:
"In light of today's events in West Lafayette, @NUWildside Stands With Purdue tonight. @NUMensBball #B1GCats #BoilerUp"
At last check, the tweet had been retweeted more than 2,000 times and had been favorited more than 1,300 times.
The Boilermakers were not on campus when the shooting occurred. They made the 140-mile trip from West Lafayette, Ind., on Monday because there was snow in the forecast and there were no classes due to Martin Luther King Day.
