WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University police are investigating three sexual assaults in as many weeks reported on or near campus.
The university issued a news release Thursday asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest, who could be the suspected assailant, described as a college-age male on a skateboard (pictured).
The male reportedly grabbed three women in a sexual manner -- one near the Purdue Memorial Union, one near the University Street Parking Garage and one east of the Union, the university said. All three incidents happened during the day.
"We would like for him to come and talk with us or for anyone who might know him to let us know so that we can get in touch with him," said Purdue police Lt. Fred Davis.
Staff and students at Purdue are taking the assaults seriously.
"Who would expect something like this? That makes it all the more serious because there's very little you can do to protect yourself from someone who's skating by like that," said Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg.
Student Angela Agelson said she'll be keeping an eye out.
"I'm definitely going to be on the lookout, because that's just really creepy and shouldn't be like something that is an issue here," she said. "That's like, unheard of."
