HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. -- With record turnout for early voting in Hamilton County, some voters have had to wait in lines for as long as two hours. Those lines are expected to grow as it gets close to Election Day.

According to the elections administrator in Hamilton County they’ve already seen twice as many voters walk through their doors this election as they did in 2012.

The Hamilton County Elections Administrator said their longest wait times have been at the Carmel and Fishers satellite locations.

With the long lines and only six voting machines, voters said they aren’t surprised to see the long lines, especially at lunch-time.

“Now that we’ve already raised our children, we’re very involved in our grandchildren’s lives and we’re trying to look 10 years, 20 years down the road what’s going to be the best solution that we can affect today,” said voter Deborah Martin.

In addition to the interest in several high-profile races, the election administrator said the growing population in Hamilton County should also be considered as a factor in their record turnout.

She said the county is working on plans to open more satellite locations for the next election to help alleviate the long lines.
