BROWN COUNTY, Ind. - Remains found in rural Brown County have been identified as those of an Indiana University graduate who went missing in 2010, the coroner confirmed Thursday night.
Kate McGrayel, 26, was reported missing after camping in the woods not far from her family's home in Brown County in April 2010.
Mushroom hunters found her remains on a remote hillside behind the family's home April 11.
After getting her degree in graphic design at IU, McGrayel went to work for Campus Crusade for Christ, traveling to Turkey and China for missionary work.
Last week, her aunt, Lucy McGrayel, told RTV6 that the family was praying the remains were not those of her niece.
"We believed that she needed to do what she needed to do, what she told us she needed to do, and obviously if this is her, we will be shocked beyond words," she said.
