Former Ind. Gov. Mitch Daniels will not run for governor again if Mike Pence is chosen to be Donald Trump's vice presidential nominee, he said Thursday.

Daniels released a statement saying, "I will not present myself as a candidate nor would I accept the nomination if offered."

Daniels has been Purdue University's president since he left office in 2013.

Daniels, annually a popular name to run for president himself, has been rumored to run for governor since speculation Pence as VP has grown.

Former Angie's List CEO Bill Oesterle created a website and hopes to build support for a "Draft Mitch" movement.
