A new report indicates that Senator Dan Coats is being considered for the National Intelligence Director position under President-elect Donald Trump's incoming administration.

Bloomberg news is reporting that Coats is one of three finalists for the position.

Coats visited Trump Tower Wednesday afternoon.

Coats announced he was retiring and would not seek re-election to the Indiana Senate earlier this year.

There's no word on how soon Donald Trump might announce his decision on the position.

Coats served in the Army and then as a U.S. Senator from Indiana for 10 years before retiring in 1999, then returning to the seat in 2011.
