Residents displaced after SUV crashes into home on south side

No injures reported

INDIANAPOLIS - Police said an SUV lost control and crashed into a house on the city’s south side Thursday evening.

The incident happened on South Meridian Street near Southport Road around 10 p.m.

Police said the SUV plowed through the yard of a home on Meridian Street before it went through a fence and into the back yard of a home on Melanie Lane.

Officials said a man, his girlfriend and dog were all inside the home at the time but they were not injured.

Authorities said there was significant damage to the home and the residents would have to find somewhere else to stay because the house was not structurally sound.

It was not yet clear if the driver of the SUV was hurt or what caused the accident.
