INDIANAPOLIS -- Rexnord is looking to save $15.5 million from its plant in Indianapolis by moving jobs to Mexico.

Call 6 Investigates has learned that company representatives and the members of the Steelworkers Union Local 1999 met at an undisclosed site in Indianapolis Friday for less than an hour.

In order for Indianapolis workers to save the company $15.5 million, one source tells Call 6 Investigates that employees would have to cut their wages from an average of $25 an hour to about $8 an hour

The union declined to comment on the meeting, saying they plan on a possible statement next week. No official response from Rexnord either.

Rexnord Bearingsannounced to its employees on Friday, October 14 that 350 Indianapolis-based production  jobs were going to be moved to Monterrey, Mexico between April and June of 2017.

Rexnord's plant, which is located on Indianapolis' west side, makes ball bearings, roller bearings and other associated products.

RTV6 invited Rexnord employees to take part in a conversation on Facebook Live Thursday night to discuss the job loss to other countries.  You can watch that discussion below.

Rexnord's move  comes just 8 months after 1,400 Carrier workers found out their jobs were being phased out of an Indianapolis manufacturing plant and instead moved to Carrier's facility in Monterrey.

A video of the announcement went viral, triggering outrage from as high up as GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. It also became the focus of multiple Call 6 Investigations, prompting special reports. You can find all of those stories here.
